Millipedes are myriapodous arthropods that have two pairs of legs on each body segment. In South Africa they are often called shongololos. This curled up millipede has an elongated cylindrical body with more than 20 segments, while pill millipedes are shorter and can roll into a ball, like a pillbug. The name "millipede"derives from Latin roots mille ("thousand") and pes ("foot").
