A group of Jews sit mourning with ashes on their heads. On the right, Queen Esther in her room where she instructs a servant to bring Mordecai clothes so that he can day them in place of his mourning robe. To the left, Mordecai refuses to accept the clothes. Even further in the background, Ester prays for a happy ending. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the Bible text in Est. 3. Ahasuerus
