RM2AMC2MR–John Murray Spear (1804-1887) American Spiritualist clergyman who was a member of the Universalist Church of America before turning to spiritualism and claimed to receive messages from one of the Church’s founders the Reverend John Murray (1741-1815) amongst others. He tried to create a mechanical Messiah known as the “New Motive Power” at the top of High Rock Hill in Lynn, Massachusetts but the machine failed to work.
