GunGriffon: Allied Strike

Fair

Even hardcore GunGriffon fans will be pressed to find much to like in this Xbox debut for the franchise. Read Review

GunGriffon: Allied Strike takes place in a hostile futuristic world where there is little hope for survival among the human race. The earth's resources have been exhausted and people are continuously splitting into groups to fight for what is left of it. The player takes on the role of a renegade soldier, enlisted in an anti-tank troop, whose prime mission is to take down armored tanks, the ultimate ground weapon used to destroy the earth and any living thing that gets in its way. The player uses his entrusted machine, a "High Mac" (High-Mobility Armored Combat System), to fight the battery of armed soldiers and sinister machines that await them on the battlefield. The game features full Xbox Live compatibility with a multi-player online mode and a variety of missions.

Xbox Reviews | Jan 18, 2005

When the original GunGriffon game was released on the Sega Saturn back in 1996, fans hailed it as one of the most exciting mech simulators ever. Since that time, franchise developer Game Arts has produced three sequels over three different consoles. The most recent of these, GunGriffon: Allied Strike, finally introduces Xbox gamers to the series. Unfortunately, it seems like someone forgot to tell Game Arts that production values have improved over the past ten years. Read More »

GunGriffon: Allied Strike

Tecmo is jumping into the mech arena with one of the oldest console series in the genre. With a pair of smash hits on the Sega Saturn, the GunGriffon series had great success back in the '90s. Both Tecmo and GameArts are hoping it can achieve bigger results with Allied Strike. Aiming to bring the speedy feel of its previous games and adding the Xbox's visual and Internet capabilities to the mix, Allied Strike should take the series to a whole new level. I spent some hands-on time with the game at Tokyo Game Show 2004 and really enjoyed what I played … even if it came at the expense of an IGN editor. Read More »

Gun Griffon

Xbox Previews | May 15, 2004

The Gun Griffon series rocked the Sega Saturn with two hot games. Players loved Game Arts' fast-paced, mech-fighting action. While Gun Griffon Blaze for PlayStation 2 was also a good game, fans of the series were disappointed with its brevity and lack of detail on the mechs. Game Arts is teaming up with Tecmo to bring the series to the Xbox. The developers have vowed to retain the series' hallmark speed, bring back the classic look and feel of the Saturn games, and give it a major visual overhaul with the power of the Xbox. From what I saw at E3, it has the potential to be the best game in the series. It's looking great, moving fast, and will have online play. Read More »
