We completely agree with the previous reviews - Casa del Aljarife is charming, historic, perfectly located, and with the most helpful and kind host, Damian. Granada was one of the high points of our two month stay in Spain, in no small part due to Damian's hospitality and advice. He was the consummate host - friendly, respectful, and patient. He met us at the taxi drop-off and carried our bags up the steep streets - which was most appreciated! After settling into our lovely room (#3) with private Alhambra-view terrace, we sat down with him in the pretty courtyard as he spread out a map and unhurriedly and thoroughly explained the area, the highlights of the city, his preferred restaurants, etc. He offered to buy tickets and make reservations. Every one of his recommendations was a winner, be it a restaurant, a dish at the restaurant, or a site or walk. We were there in November and our room quickly heated up as needed. Breakfast was delicious and substantial, at a time of our choosing. Bathroom was a few stairs down from the bedroom and updated with all amenities. The private terrace (up a few stairs outside) was a magical place to view the Alhambra and the city, and to hear the sounds of the neighborhood, including some classical guitar wafting through the streets. We highly recommend a stay here!

Beautiful charm, character, and hospitality! We couldn’t have chosen a better spot to stay in Granada. Our host took care of every need including meeting us at the taxi drop off when we arrived and taking us to the taxi pick up at a different location when we left. He graciously carried all our luggage. He made sure we understood the city map, our location, and special things we might like to see or do. As noted, it is in a very hilly area of town but we appreciated that good workout. Breakfast was amazing! There was more than enough tasty and beautiful food and he catered to my husband‘s vegetarian request. We were in room one. Or should I say apartment number one? There was no kitchen, but it had a large living area with extra beds, a separate bedroom, and two bathrooms. It would be perfect for a family. Please note there are steep steps up into the bedroom area. Our view was out to the courtyard by the entry. It was quiet. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It was perfect! Kudos to Damien and his family.

what an amazing place to stay. we had the room with the patio looking up to the Alhambra. the room was very large, very clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated. there is AC in the room. Large separate bathroom with very nice size shower. He provides a mini bar with very reasonably priced wines, beer and water. this is a small hotel in the heart of the old area with restaurants, shops and the Alhambra all with in easy but hilly walking area. Damian our host was amazing made sure we had everything we needed. gave us restaurant ideas and made sure we knew how to get from point A to point B. He Met us when we got there to where the taxi dropped us off so we would get the hotel without any problem, and he made sure to walk us to our taxi and help us with our luggage when we left. he provides a very lovely breakfast at a very reasonable price. He is what makes this property so very special. lovely courtyard to enjoy also

We stayed at this beautiful small hotel for 3 nights in June & were treated to an absolutely wonderful stay. Damien, the host, looked after us like family. He met us in Granada, guided us to the parking garage, carried most of our luggage to the hotel & back & took time to sit down with us & recommend places to eat & visit. We stayed in the top room, which had a fantastic view of the Alhambra Palace, it was spacious & had a large separate bathroom with a handy fridge, stocked with beer, water & cola. The breakfast was fresh & varied, fruit, yoghurt, ham, cheese, juice & coffee & all prepared & served with a smile by Damian. Breakfast could be taken indoors or outside in the lovely enclosed patio, complete with lemon tree, overflowing with ripe lemons. Not too much else to say, just that this small hideaway in the backstreets of the old town of Granada, is an absolute jewel & shouldn't be missed.

Phenomenal - what a find! Absolutely fantastic stay. Damien (our host) was the best host one could wish for. So accommodating, so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, including catering to my very specific dietary needs. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful - gorgeous tiles, courtyard with lemon tree, etc. If you want a true Granadian experience this is the place. It is also perfectly located for everything you could wish to see. And the breakfasts were truly exceptional. We cannot rate Damian and this hotel highly enough and have been recommending it all our friends since. Thank you Damian! We hope to see you again soon.

This is a beautiful Pension, full of charm and character dating back to the 17th Century. Situated in the Albaicin neighbourhood of Granada in a quaint square off a pedestrian street. The area is a maze of narrow cobbled alleys and steps some ascending to fantastic viewing areas of the city and the Alhambra. There are three rooms at the Pension, we stayed in Room 1, which in addition to the large bedroom had a lounge, bathroom and separate WC . The minibar contained lots of bottled water, local wine and soft drinks, all very reasonably priced. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was superb, a variety of fruit, cheeses, ham, eggs, omelette, yogurts, cereals, fresh bread/rolls were available each day. This is a wonderful place to stay with fantastic bars, restaurants and historical buildings close by. The host was extremely helpful and gave us tips as to where to eat, visit etc. Highly recommended.

In the middle of the historic old town and therefore within walking distance to all major sights and wonderful restaurants. Damian is a great host, he took care of us wonderfully and gave a lot of tips. The quiet hotel in the house from the 17th century with its beautiful inner courtyard and very beautiful rooms has a very special charm.
