Frankie Luke Dichero, 96, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Katy. He was born on February 5, 1928 in Houston, Texas to Anthony (Tony) and Rose Dichero. He was Baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Frankie grew up in Houston during the depression. He started working at age 16, 1944, at Folger Coffee Company to work on coffee equipment and Forklifts. He loved working on cars and other things around the house with his brothers.
Frankie was drafted in1946 by the Army to help keep the nation safe during WWII. At this time, he was sent from Houston to Norfolk, Virgina, San Francisco, California, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and then to Yokohama, Japan as a Seaman during World War II until 1947. He received the WWII Victory medal Army of Occupation medal (Japan) and official letter from The White House signed by Harry Truman.
Frankie went back to work for Folger Coffee Company which after several years had changed their name to Procter & Gamble, Continental Coffee, and then Quaker Oats. He married his love of his life on December 15, 1951, Naomi K. Nabors, and they had three children. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and retired from Quaker Oats during 1995.
The most precious moments and memories were spent on vacation with him at Galveston, Six Flags, South Padre, Disney World, Colorado, Branson, Mo. He always enjoyed taking his three children fishing and crabbing with his wife. Naomi always asked him to stop at the road stop parks for lunch during our summer trips.
Frankie is survived by his son, Frank A; son Tommy and wife Stephanie; daughter, Nancy Schram and husband Donnie; grandchildren, Thomas, Susan and husband Robert, Daniel and Colton; Great-grandchildren, Kanyon, Ella and Cooper; sister Mary Teinert.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi; father, Anthony (Tony); mother, Rose; brothers, Charlie, Sammy and Joseph.
Pallbearers: Thomas & Kanyon Dichero, Donnie, Daniel, Colton Schram, Robert & Cooper Park and Vincent Jones.
A public visitation for Frankie will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Monday, March 18, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
