Description

Absinthe Azteque is a special Absinthe, as it is made with cocoa beans from Mexico. They add a nice chocolate flavor to the traditional taste of Absinthe. Azteque is distilled by the French distillery La Semilla, which is known for its wormwood-flavored Absinthes.

Absinthe Azteque: Made with coca beans and locally grown wormwood

Absinthe Azteque is made with particularly aromatic wormwood grown in the garden of the distiller Francois Aymonier at 1100 meters above sea level. This is one reason for the strong aroma of Aymonier Absinthes. Grande wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a tall, branched and silvery green plant. It can grow up to 0.8-1.2 meters high. The leaves are arranged in a spiral, greenish-gray above and white below, covered with silvery-white down. The plant is rich in essential oils. If you rub some leaves between your fingers, you will immediately recognize the aroma of the plant. Wormwood is quite bitter in taste. That is why you should not use it as a dyeing herb. It would destroy the fine structure of the distillate. Other plants and wormwood species are used for coloring. Often it is hyssop, lemon balm and small wormwood (artemisia pontica).
