WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- With tipoff to the 2016-17 Purdue men's basketball season coming fast, the Purdue marketing department has announced its promotions schedule for the upcoming season.

Some of the highlights again include the annual T-shirt giveaway game, bobblehead night, Boilermaker Kids Club games and two blackout contests this year.

The first "Boilermaker Blackout" game will come Nov. 14, when defending national champion Villanova comes to town for the Gavitt Games. Fans are encouraged to wear black to this game as Mackey hosts a non-conference defending national champion for the first time in almost 50 years.

Fans are reminded that Villanova (and Indiana) tickets will only be available with the purchase of mini plans and season tickets. Single-game tickets will NOT be available for these two contests.

The second "Boilermaker Blackout" contest will come Feb. 18, against Michigan State.

The annual T-shirt giveaway game will come Sunday, Jan. 8, as preseason Big Ten favorite Wisconsin visits Mackey Arena for the only meeting between the two Big Ten heavyweights. Student-section tickets (sections 115 & 116 only) for the general public are available for just $25.

Two bobblehead games are in the works this winter, the first coming Jan. 1, against Minnesota with the Purdue Pete Bobblehead series. The first 1,000 fans to purchase a student-section ticket at $20 will automatically receive a current Purdue Pete bobblehead with their ticket.

The second bobblehead contest will be Saturday, Jan. 21, against Penn State, when the first 2,000 fans will receive a Gene Keady bobblehead.

Senior Night will take place Feb. 28, with the regular-season home finale against Indiana.

Finally, Purdue basketball will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie "Top Gun" on Jan. 17, against Illinois. Fans can donate a canned food item for an exclusive Top Gun-themed poster and the first 1,500 students through the gates will receive free aviator sunglasses.

Boilermaker Kids Club games will be Nov. 26, against NJIT and Dec. 10, vs. Cleveland State. Youth Day will be Dec. 3, against Morehead State.

Two preseason events to put on your calendar are the second community tipoff event in Riehle Plaza on Oct. 1, and Oct. 22, for the season-ticket holder appreciation brunch and fan day. More details regarding those events will be available closer to the event.

In addition, several new fan-experience elements will be used in Mackey Arena for the upcoming season to make sure your Purdue basketball experience is a memorable one. Fans are encouraged to start downloading the "Boiler Lights" app on your smartphone to be used during pregame festivities.

Mini plans and single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public online on Oct. 1, and tickets for the Villanova and Indiana games will only be available with the purchase of mini plans and season tickets.
