After leaving the Tianguis on Thursday's I noticed this place during breakfast is always busy -- and for a reason!
I had to finally stop after soo many times walking by and try their desayunos. I wouldn't say their service is great for how busy they are so if you go, expect to ask for their attention if needed.
I for one usually do not order chilaquiles that honestly aren't my mothers but here I chose to and happy to say it was exceptionally good! I ordered their Omelet Al Gusto and with $55 pesos the plate was full!
Desayunos -- highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jack E.Las Cruces, NM04Dec 12, 2022
Reliable place to relax, eat a bite, and enjoy an adult beverage. Breakfast choices are plenty, lunch and dinner are affordable and generous. They also have a menu one needs to ask about, as it's not the first one distributed. Full of good choices at value pricing. While not the top restaurant choice, it should be fully considered. Always busy, but the wait staff is efficient and the cooks can multi-task.

This place is great because it has a huge food selection and the food here is very tasty. My favorites were definitely their onion soup and guacamole. OMG! The guacamole is so good that you can go ahead an order two or three servings right away! Their frijoles and rice are amazing too. Plus the place is super inexpensive compared to touristy places in Puerto Vallarta. Not to mention comparing it to the places in the US.
The only thing I would not recommend is fajitas. Not that they are bad, they are just not as good as many of their other things are. Their menu is huge, so choose something else!
They also have a good michelada mix and the service is very friendly and nice. I was impressed when the waiter came back to us after we already paid and tipped him. He apologized and said we were by mistake charged 100 pesos more and he politely returned it. That type of behavior you will not see every day, especially in Mexico.
If I am ever back there, I would definitely come back here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 2, 2019
I really have a hard time rating this place because -- honestly -- our experiences have been so inconsistent.
This was once our go-to place in the LP for casual, full-meal dining. Lots of reasons why: Ample portions; Great prices; Excellent menu selection.
But, over time, we've been less and less frequent patrons. I think it started when they stopped offering chips and salsa as a starter snack. Small thing, but one notices.
Then we noticed that the quality of the service was diminishing, and it was getting tougher to get the attention we formerly received.
Then we noticed that the quality of the food was going downhill. Example: On our last visit the chicken fajitas were sprinkled with lots of bone fragments, gristle, and pieces of fat. This had never happened before and caused my wife to declare, "That's it; not coming back."
I still have a fond place in my heart for El Pollito and I've had a meal there once or twice, solo, since she swore off the place. But she's right: It's not the 5-star it once was.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sally M.Emeryville, CA1911Mar 26, 2018
Another fine Peñita restaurant. Traditional Mexican menu with large selection of carne, pescado, and of course, pollo. Service here is excellent, portions are more than enough. My husband is Mexican and orders often the Comida Correa (sp)...cheaper option offered mid-day. I especially enjoy their guacamole, am vegan, and have to limit myself to frifoles side dish or guacamole. Guacamole is enormous and a whole meal itself. Delicious! We have not had a bad meal or bad experience here. Opens for breakfast and stays open late.

One afternoon my wife and I decided to eat here. It was a bit problematic to get the attention of the waiter. When we finally were able to order we ordered two club sandwiches.
We commenced to eat the club sandwiches and I felt something moving in my mouth. As soon as I felt this my wife threw her sandwich on the table. The turkey was full of maggots. I spit the food on the floor and immediately called the waiter.
When he arrived to the table her did not seem surprised. He asked if we would like any thing else. We said no and said we are leaving. The waiter and that fat owner insisted we pay for the sandwiches. We were insulted, we gave that pig his maggot money and have yet to return. We have visited this town for 10 yrs and this passed 3yrs ago. I hope everyone checks their food there. Maggots or not you will be forced to pay.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
