ACE Taxi is closed permanently, company is dissolved. "Around the Clock" taxi service is struggling to find decent drivers. Hard to believe the Mohawk Valley doesn't have a for real Taxi service anymore. Prices are crazy, too!

I wrote an earlier review of this company; that was unkind, presumptive, and unfair to the company as a whole .... based on the negative interaction with one employee/sub contractor regarding knowledge of the community
I apologize to anyone who read that review and was temporarily swayed during the 5/6 hours it was posted - In this time of change a staple of the community, struggling to weather the storm does not deserve a negative review- so I recommend continuing this business .....
I mean it's a cabbie ... if you can't argue with those guys then what's the point

Unintelligent, uninformed drivers who have bad dispatching, disrespectful, lack of driving skills, and who are highly unattentive. Not just making passengers wait pronlonged but also poor manners and rude. Number 59 Bernie was the driver.

Worst experience ever . . . The ass owner answered the phone gave me shit for his mechanic leaving, his phone ringing off the hook and then gave me attitude for telling him the law regarding credit card processing fees and charges because he told me he charges a $3 fee to use the card, "like an atm." I tell him that's illegal and he can only have minimum charges for the use of a card, not a $3 surcharge like an atm.

I cancel my taxi and move on. What a dick!

So long story why but I had to take a taxi in Utica, NY. Here is my experience with Ace's Taxi.

First, I call and ask how much to downtown and do they take credit cards, phone guy says "$12 boss, and yes we take credit cards." I say ok and he says "you want the taxi boss." No, I am just enquiring for a poll I am taking. Phone guy says, as if this is normal, "well, I need your card boss." I ask over the phone? "We process the cards here boss,". Again as if this is normal. Not like farmers markets don't swipe credit cards now but ok. So as I give the number over the phone, he repeats it. Out. Loud. This i know is a bad idea. Thank God for Lifelock.

We then have a debate that I haven't given enough numbers. I read it again. I read each part slowly. He repeats it to me. (Goodbye Amex). Finally he says "I've never seen a card like that before," takes the other info and... Hangs up. No goodbye, no taking phone number, no running the card and "all set." Just end of call.

At this point I am ready to enjoy writing my Yelp and Google review. And 32 minutes later when the minivan shows up, I realize I am beyond scathing rebuke and on to surreal humor.

As she pulls around I notice there is someone in the passenger seat. My first thought is my credit card number really didn't work. When I open the back door I notice another person in the back seat. A very large man. Smiling at me. With a few teeth. And again, no explanation, as if this is all normal, the four of us in a taxi. Together.

My train of thought now proceeds...

-did I miss something about ride share?
      -are these body guards?
      - they aren't bodyguard kind of scary looking, they are deliverance scary looking
      - I could take him

So I get in the taxi. When I shut the door, my feel like this seems familiar. As an aficionado of the show Forensic Files I realize I am about to be in an episode. So I start touching flat surfaces to add my fingerprints.

This is when we pull out of the parking lot and... Stop. In the road. At a stop sign. To do paperwork. Once we finish, still at the stop sign, she asks me where to. Remembering I am in a Forensic Files episode, I decide not to tell her the hotel, but a restaurant because what if she comes back. Or reads me Yelp review. Besides if I do live through this, I need a beer.

As we start to drive, she tells ,e the door isn't closed. I look up and see some sky and realize she is right. After closing the door, the sky is still there. But the door is shut. I think because the rest of the ride I hear it creaking like it's going to open. At least when the Forensic Files stuff starts I can jump out.

Here is where I made the best husband decision ever. My humorous side said "text your wife about this, include the 2 extra people and the Forensic Files comment." My husband side said "yeah, because that's what she wants to think about till your are safe." I can be trained.

The rest of the ride is like a tour through the ghetto of Utica. Until we stop to drop off the really big couple. Apparently they aren't body guards. The woman precede to meander up the ramp, carrying one little plastic bag. The guy spends must be 5 minutes grabbing every single back handle so he can make the one trip. With a running commentary. Until he is done and then the discussion seems to go on and on about shutting the back door. I almost get out and do it.

The rest of the trip proceeds without much more fun, mostly because the threat of imminent death is gone. All I can think at the end is, this is why Uber exists.

At 12:35 am my daughter scheduled a taxi pick-up for 9:40 am to take her to her job by 10:00 am. The taxi failed to arrive on time, so my daughter called to remind them about her scheduled appointment. At approximately 10:05 am my daughter began walking to her job after apologizing profusely to her boss about being late. The taxi cab driver called my daughter at 10:23 am to tell her that he had arrived. My daughter who has severe asthma and was unsure of exactly how to arrive at her job on foot, hurriedly told him she was walking; the taxi cab driver hung up on her.

When I called ACE Taxi to politely explain our displeasure of the poor service my daughter had received I was given nothing but a poor excuse and NO APOLOGY. The person I was calmly speaking to hung up on me as well. I was hoping for an apology and also suggesting that when a taxi company can't abide by a scheduled appointment they should make a courtesy call to their customer to allow that customer to make other arrangements.

Since my daughter was able to walk to her job in 25 minutes, I doubt the exorbitant fare, failure to arrive punctually, and poor customer service skills are worth using their "service" again.
