Evanna Lynch, AKA Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films, is going from Hogwarts student to Hogwarts professor this Harry Potter Book Day – teaching a very special virtual class for schools across the world.

Bloomsbury Children’s Books, Twinkl and Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter have banded together for an extremely unique study session indeed, where teachers and students alike will get to tune in to a virtual lesson, hosted by the Wizarding World’s very own Evanna Lynch!

Update: you can now watch the video right here!

Fans can watch as Evanna takes us through different iconic film sets from the Harry Potter films at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, including the magnificent Great Hall and the charming Diagon Alley. There, she’ll lead a creative-writing story starter, using extracts from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to help students begin their lesson in style.

Later on in the session, Evanna will be joined by a few other Wizarding World family members, such as a draw-along with artist Jonny Duddle, who has brought the Harry Potter books to life with his beautiful illustrations.

Then it’s time for something more physical, with Evanna teaming up with wand choreographer Paul Harris for a spell-casting tutorial to get everybody on their feet. We wonder how much Evanna remembers from her days on set! Is spell-casting like riding a bike?

Evanna spoke of her delight to teach this one-of-a-kind class, which is made extra-special by the fact both of her own parents are teachers too.

I fell in love with the Harry Potter books when I was 8, and my appreciation for the magical world and its complex, wonderful characters has only deepened as I’ve grown older and revisited them again and again,’ she said.

‘It would be impossible to quantify the impact these books have had on my life, but suffice to say they made me a lifelong reader and a writer, and that the characters continue to inspire me as an adult. As the daughter of two teachers, I love the idea of schools spreading the magic of these books to a new generation of children. I’m delighted to present this special lesson and hope it inspires them to pick up a pen, a book – or even a wand.’

The 40-minute online event, designed for 7-11 year olds, will be made freely available from the 28th September, in advance of Harry Potter Book Day, to help teachers, tutors, home educators and parents make the event as magical as possible. It will be suitable for any English-language speaking school, and will be available via Twinkl’s website.

Twinkl, an education company that offers many resources to schools and educators in over 200 regions, will also be provided loads of supporting resources.

And you can learn all about how exactly to do it on Bloomsbury’s website here.

The resource will remain available after Harry Potter Book Day so don’t worry if you’re a teacher trying to sort out the perfect class schedule - you’ve plenty of time and won’t even need a Time-Turner!

And that’s not all! Don’t forget that Bloomsbury’s exciting upcoming Harry Potter compendium, The Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac, will launch on 10th October, so you can get stuck in just before Harry Potter Book Day kicks off.
