When it debuted last year, the Lamborghini Avendator S sure looked like a high watermark for the Italian supercar and sports car company. The extra sporty version of the flagship supercar moderated drivers' worst impulses—go fast, lose control—by correcting imbalanced handling and understeer issues, and still offered a 3-second 0 to 60 mph sprint and 217 mph top speed.
But why buy that two-seater when you could pick up the new Avendator S Roadster, which comes with all the supercar power and engineering, plus the ability to show off your ugly mug as you drive it down the Stelvio Pass and/or your local interstate?
The convertible, which Lambo unveiled this week ahead of the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, delivers the same hard-hitting driving tech that Lambo packed into the 2017 Aventador S. The Italian automaker promises the roadster's decapitation and extra 110 pounds won't mess with top-notch aerodynamics or performance.
Enjoy hitting 0 to 60 in 3.0 seconds, and topping out at 215 miles per hour? Say grazie for a naturally aspirated V12 engine that cranks out 740 horsepower and more than 500 pound-feet of torque. The car also comes with four-wheel drive, a new steering system, and a new active suspension. And it steers with all four wheels, which improves stability at speed.
The new hairdo will only set you back $460,247—base price. So come on, show it off, and keep the top down.
