SANTA FE SPRINGS >> Six new officers reported for duty this week to the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Fe Springs area office.

They are officers Richard Villapudua, Aaron McLain, Jason Steward, Eric Digati, Miguel Alvarez and Richard Alvarado.

The group was part of the California Highway Patrol Academy class that graduated 47 newly sworn officers on Oct.  30 in West Sacramento.

Capt. David Moeller welcomed the officers to one of the busiest CHP offices in the entire state.

On a monthly average, the Santa Fe Springs area investigates approximately 800 traffic collisions, assists 1,500 motorists, arrests 160 DUI drivers and issues 3,000 citations, officials said.
