Jennifer Lawrence is as known for her sense of humour as her Oscar-winning films – just look at her interviews on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date and Sean Evans’s First We Feast this summer – but, in recent months, Jennifer’s fashion sense has garnered almost as much interest as her ability to eat 10 progressively spicier chicken wings in a row. The mastermind behind her red-carpet transformation? Los Angeles-based stylist Jamie Mizrahi, who also works with Lawrence’s friend Adele.

Mizrahi says her collaboration with Lawrence “unfolded naturally” given the fact that the two are friends and neighbours in LA, with Lawrence often stopping by to borrow looks. The actor manages to “care enough without caring too much” when it comes to fashion, gravitating towards pieces that are “cool, classic and elegant”. “Her wardrobe is relatively straightforward and modern but isn’t driven by what’s trendy,” says Mizrahi. “There’s a clean, relaxed way to how she dresses.”

That insouciant cool has been evident throughout Lawrence’s promo tour for No Hard Feelings. “We wanted the entire press tour to be cohesive – it was important that she felt like the same person throughout,” says the stylist on the thinking behind the looks. “It was also important that Jen felt comfortable and true to herself – she’s timeless and doesn’t take herself too seriously.”

In London, that meant a silk LBD from Dior’s autumn/winter 2023 collection paired with Anito Ko jewels one day, and a grey asymmetrical look by The Row with Tiffany & Co’s Elsa Peretti Sevillana Pendant another. In New York, meanwhile, an ice-blue Proenza Schouler design from the label’s resort 2024 collection and a Dior gown worthy of a Grecian goddess were standout.

Mizrahi’s favourite look, though, is from the Croisette. “Cannes was a special moment,” she says, reflecting on Lawrence’s scarlet Dior Haute Couture design. “The silhouette, the shawl, the hair and make-up… It was all very glamorous.” As for Mizrahi’s advice for aspiring stylists? “Seize every opportunity that comes your way, as one job can lead to another, and building relationships is important. Also, avoid looking at what everyone else is doing… Stay in your own lane.”
