Who knew Carly Simon’s second husband, an insurance salesman and writer, would publish the memoir that keeps on giving? Jim Hart dished on his former wife’s crush on Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger, and now he’s talking Alec Baldwin dates with former first ladies.

Per an excerpt in People, in the early 90s, Hart facilitated a theater date between a 33-year-old Baldwin and Jacqueline Onassis for her birthday at her request. She was turning 62.

Onassis, apparently, was a friend and confidante of Hart, who was also a friend of Baldwin (an anonymous source once described Simon as a “kindred spirit” to Onassis in Vanity Fair, which may account for Hart’s friendship).

“I was surprised by the openness of the request, but I acted as though there was nothing unusual about it,” Hart wrote. “Alec was most shocked of all, but there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation, even though he had just met Kim Basinger.

Baldwin’s response was, ‘I’m there,’” as Hart told it, and when the author pushed back, the actor said, “‘Are you kidding? Jackie Kennedy wants to go on a date? Of course.'”

Vanity Fair has reached out to Baldwin for comment.
