Clatous Chama emerges a hero as Simba, Azam FC share the spoils in Mainland Tanzania Premier League tie

Mwanza. Simba attacking midfielder Clatous Chama emerged the hero for Simba on Friday, February 9, 2024, rescuing his team with a spectacular free-kick equaliser in the 93rd minute against Azam FC at the CCM Kirumba in Mwanza Region.

The Mainland Tanzania Premier League match, which was attended by a large number of football lovers, ended in a 1-1 draw as both teams displayed skills in playing the game of football.

Azam FC took the lead early in the game, with Prince Dube finding the back of the net in the 14th minute, putting Simba on the back foot. However, Simba refused to relent as they pressed forward until the very end.

Simba missed a clear scoring chance in stoppage time, as victory would have made them move up past Azam FC in the league standings.

With 30 points from 12 matches, Simba still remain behind Azam FC, who cling on to the second position with 32 points from 14 matches, as Yanga still lead the pack with 37 points from 14 matches.

The encounter also highlighted Simba's recent struggle to secure victories against Azam FC, who extended their winless streak to five matches in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League.

The two teams have engaged in intense battles, having faced each other 33 times in the league since the 2008/2009 season, with Simba registering 13 wins while Azam FC eight and 12 games ending in draws.
