Doom came out for DOS on December 10, 1993, but eventually debuted on the original Sony PlayStation in 1995.

The gory title saw players fighting demons across space (and even hell) and is considered hugely influential for shooters.

If you have an unsealed but complete-in-box copy of Doom in a PlayStation "black label" box, it could be worth around $330.

And this rises to $860 for a sealed copy, according to PriceCharting.com.

If you've had this sealed copy professionally graded then the valuation rises to an impressive $946.

The loose disc is worth just $19.55, while the manual could fetch around $20.92.

Interestingly, the "black label" box on its own has an estimated value of $132.31.

A "black label" box signifies that it's the original release for a game.

That's as opposed to a Greatest Hits or Player's Choice copy of a PlayStation game, which are usually stamped on boxes after a certain sales milestone has been reached.

If you do decide to sell your "black label" copy of Doom for PlayStation, you might receive higher or lower offers than the prices listed here.

DEVIL'S WORK

Doom was a 3D first-person shooter that debuted in 1993 – but landed on the Atari Jaguar in 1994, and the SNES and PlayStation in 1996.

It's considered to be one of the greatest and most influential video games of all time.

And the game is credited with inspiring the first-person genre for years to come.

Players would control a space marine as he blasted his way through hellish legions of demons and undead humans.

The game would take players on a journey across the moons of Mars, before ultimately ending in hell.

It landed to critical acclaim, and won several awards.

But it also spawned controversy over its violent gameplay, use of satanic imagery, and heavy use of gore.

It was one of the first games to earn a Mature 17+ rating from the ESRB, and was classified as "harmful to minors" in Germany.

Doom spawned multiple sequels, including the most recent main entry into the franchise: 2020's Doom Eternal.
