Hit ‘00s Nintendo game now valued at $347 if you have it – even the loose disc ‘is worth $50’

The game eventually spawned a remake

ONE of the launch titles for the Nintendo GameCube is very valuable if you still own it.

The game is part of Nintendo's iconic Mario franchise – but the starring character is actually the plumber's brother.

Luigi's Mansion was released on September 14, 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube, landing on November 18 that same year in the US.

It was the first Mario title on the GameCube, and only the second game in the series to feature Luigi as the main character.

If you're lucky enough to have stashed away a sealed copy of Luigi's Mansion, you're looking at a potential sale worth $346.58.

And according to PriceCharting.com, if you've had that copy professionally graded then it's worth as much as $909.98.

If the copy is unsealed but you've got the complete-in-box set-up then you could potentially sell it for a far lower $64.11.

But even the loose disc on its own has a claimed worth of $50.56.

The box – with nothing else in it – is reportedly worth $19.99.

And the manual on its own has a listed value of $22.17.

There's no guarantee you'll get these prices if you do decide to sell, however.

These are just estimated values based on previous sales of the video game, so your own copy may attract lower or even higher offers.

"We update our prices daily from sources across the internet so you can be sure the data is accurate and timely," PriceCharting explained.

Scary good!

The first time Mario's brother Luigi was the main character in a game was in 1993's education title Mario Is Missing!

And Luigi's Mansion – released in 2001 – was the second.

In the game, Luigi is told that he's won a mansion from a competition, although he never entered one.

He heads to the mansion planning to meet Mario there, but the red-capped plumber is a no-show.

The game follows Luigi in a bid to find Mario while exploring a haunty mansion filled with spooky ghosts.

This action-adventure hit landed to positive critical reception, and was the most successful of the GameCube's launch titles.

It sold over 250,000 copies in the first week, and had sold more than 3.33 million copies globally by 2020.

The game was eventually re-made for the Nintendo 3DS and released on October 12, 2018.

And the remake was also well-received by game reviewers.
