"The past few weeks have been so hard for me. I'm unable to walk, trapped in my body," the singer wrote in an Instagram caption in response to a cover someone had done to her song.

"It's been emotionally the most difficult thing I've had to go through.

"But this beautiful cover reminded me of the significance of this song. Soon I will be free... soaring in the next dimension, glowing like a million fireflies, flying through the heavens, dancing with God and my Nonnie."

Janice underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation and was told that she was cancer-free in July 2022.

However, in June 2023, she announced that the disease had come back, this time in her lungs.

"I'm gonna go back into treatment, and I'm going to be really effing strong about it, and I'm gonna let you guys know what's going on, and thank you so much for loving me," she said in a TikTok video.

The singer has continued to make music throughout her cancer battles.

In another TikTok video from January 10, 2024, Janice shared more heartbreaking news with her followers.

"I'm finally home in hospice. Don't know my timeline. Tumors tripled basically overnight," she wrote.

"Cancer makes it near impossible to talk. I am leaving this song behind for my son," she continued.

She revealed a new song and asked her fans to pre-save the track during the video.

Dance You Out Of My Head — the song Janice discussed in her January 10, 2024, TikTok video — was released on January 19, per Washingtonian.

The song made it to the top 10 worldwide songs on iTunes, and according to Billboard, is number one on TikTok Billboard Top 50.

"Three weeks ago, I was in the ICU, unable to breathe,” she says. “And now, here we are," Janice told Washingtonian.

The musician transferred the song rights to her son, Loren "which means all the proceeds for the now-viral hit (along with the rest of her catalog) will go directly into his bank account," the outlet continued.

"My label’s really been amazing with this, wiping out a whole bunch of legal wordage. Every penny I earn on a song will be funneled into a bank account for my son," she told Washingtonian.
