NICKI Minaj fans can't contain their excitement over Pink Friday 2.
As they await the album's release, they built a fictional city powered by AI called Gag City.
What is the Gag City trend?
Gag City is an AI-generated city created by Nicki Minaj's fandom, more popularly known as Barbz.
The virtual city derived its name from the slang term "gag," which refers to the physical emotion one feels after being stunned or shocked.
When Minaj released the album cover for Pink Friday 2, in which she was standing inside a pink-tinged subway with a pink city behind her, fans considered themselves "gagged."
They then dubbed the city Gag City and began creating AI-generated images of what it would look like.

Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, their virtual city creations.
How does the trend relate to Nicki Minaj?
Privy to what her fans have been up to, Nicki Minaj hopped on the trend in one of her promos for the album.
"Approaching #GagCity," she wrote in a tweet, along with a video that says "Barb Alert System" and contains a snippet of a track in the album.
"As we begin to prepare for landing, please make sure your tray tables are put back up & your seat belts are tightly fastened," the Super Bass rapper penned in another tweet.

When will Pink Friday 2 be released?
Nicki Minaj's 5th studio album, Pink Friday 2, is slated to be released on December 8, 2023.
It was originally scheduled to be released on October 20, then again on November 17, but the rapper decided to push it back for a third time.
"This entire album will be the biggest gift I’ve ever given humanity thus far," she explained in an Instagram Live.
"I can stand by that. I will bet any amount of money that Pink Friday 2, the album, is going to make people fall in love immediately."
She went on to say that she had to move the release date so as not to coincide with Lil Wayne's album, which also dropped on November 17.
She also cited vinyl production issues, and how they wouldn't be ready until December.
Plus, there's the fact that December 8 happens to be her birthday.
"The new album date for this incredible body of work that I am so proud of, is on a very special day to me and to the Barbz. Pink Friday 2 will be out on my birthday," she noted.

Minaj promised fans that the 5-year wait for new material from her will be well worth it.
"This album is just beyond anything I could have imagined," she tweeted.
