VERO BEACH —Planning is well underway for the We Care Foundation of Indian River’s 4th annual Mardi Gras Celebration Feb. 17 at Oak Harbor Club. The event will be under the new leadership of co-chairwomen Hala Laviolette, Vice President Commercial Relationship Manager at CenterState Bank and Elizabeth White, Home Health Coordinator with Nurse On Call.

“The We Care Foundation is proud to have Hala and Liz serve as our Mardi Gras co-chairs,” said Shelley Stuven, Executive Director of the We Care Foundation of Indian River. “Hala is a returning co-chair of this event and Liz joined the team last year.

"Both women possess an excellent background of service and have many ideas to improve the Mardi Gras Celebration for our guests. The passion Hala and Liz feel for our community is felt continually through the time they give not only to We Care but other non-profits in Indian River County.”

The visionary duo, along with the support of the We Care Krewe — the committee organizing the Mardi Gras Celebration — already are livening up the festive fundraiser with  some fun new components for guests. Highlights include a culinary tour of New Orleans, a silent auction, music, dancing, casino games and prizes.

Both Laviolette and White said they were excited to chair the event.
The Mardi Gras Celebration is the We Care Foundation of Indian River’s signature fundraising event. It's scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Feb.17 at Oak Harbor Club

Proceeds return directly to the Indian River County community to help meet We Care program and We Care Clinic non-physician ancillary medical or medically related needs for We Care patients. Examples include after-care wound dressing, cataract lenses, emergency prescription assistance, and transportation for medical appointments.
