Area Manager Interview questions

Tell me about yourself and why do you want to be an area manager?

I take my work extremely serious, and I am someone who is committed, accountable, loyal, and professional. This role aligns with my career goals of climbing the corporate ladder and being responsible for motivating a team or department towards achieving organizational targets and productivity as well as objectives. I have built up skills and experience over the years to be a highly effective area manager.

What qualities and attributes are needed to become an area manager?

You must set very high standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, and values. If you are going to set high standards of output from those you are responsible for, you have to set the bar high yourself. To add on, you must facilitate the right level of training for all staff to ensure they carry out those high standards. So, you must be totally committed to the mission, aims and ,objectives from your employer.

What do you expect to do on a daily basis as an area manager?

Firstly, I would expect to create and deliver long term strategies and business plans that are designed to help the organization. Secondly, I would expect to facilitate training programs for staff ensuring they are properly equipped for the day-to-day operation.

What principles would you follow as a manager?

I would follow four principles, which are leading, planning, organizing, and controlling. These principles ties to leading the team to success, plan in advance, organize objectives, and finally I would control my teams output performance.

What stood out to you about this role?

The qualifications of having the education requirements of having a bachelor’s degree in Business

2 years plus dealing with customer service in customer service center environment

Identifying associate, customer, and supplier concerns by listening and consulting with others

Monitors and manages productivity of assigned area of responsibility

Maintains quality and safety standards in assigned area

Supervises and develops associates and leaders in assigned area of responsibility by assigning duties and coordinating workloads

supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs

company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

creating business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders

This is important and vital information and characteristics a manager should have with the company, and I am looking forward to learning invaluable skillsets, while also building relations, and helping others grow.

What do you know about Sam’s Club?

It is owned by Walmart, it is a Warehouse, Costco competitor, you have to have a membership to shop here, it first opened in 1983 Oklahoma and named after Walmart founder Sam Walton.

Experience leading tough employees, how do you influence others?

Working at Walmart I was a team leader, and it was my responsibility to help my team reach the companies objectives. Firstly, I would build trust with my team, so to be open and honest no matter what. Secondly. I would be assertive and not aggressive not get my ideas and tasks noticed. Focus on actions rather than arguments and engage with my team. This ensures they are heard and best boost the company’s overall morale.

How do you achieve results?

By communicating clearly and with strategy. Leaders who communicate will have clear communication and have a more engaged team. Inspire and motivate others to become enthused which also drives team members to create a positive work environment. I am coachable, which is good as a leader, because others like to give feedback. So, I have the ability to simultaneously drive results and excellent people skills to achieve results.
