Weekend Plans With Gametime CEO Brad Griffith: Restaurant Crawl, Beach Volleyball

For Gametime CEO BRAD GRIFFITH there is no better way to spend the weekend than on the beach. The pastime of choice for the mobile ticketing exec is volleyball. Griffith: "The rainy season seems to have passed so it's time to get the board shorts out and hit the beach. Volleyball keeps me in reasonable shape even though I do a lot to be out of shape the rest of the time." Here, Griffith tells THE DAILY his plans for this upcoming weekend.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME: I am taking in Dodgers-Giants for Opening Night on Friday. I’m a huge Giants fan and it’s an even year so we’re going to make it out to AT&T Park a bunch this season. The stadium itself is amazing -- great location, view, food, beverages, and if the Giants are good there’s no better place to be. I might have a handy app I can use to find some last-minute tickets at a great price and not have to print them either.

BEACH BUM: I am doing a restaurant crawl on Saturday. We are essentially hitting a few restaurants for a sampling and moving on to the next one. It should be a great time with my wife BRITT and her family. On Sunday, I will be looking around for some pickup beach volleyball games down in my native Santa Cruz. I love to get out and keep the skills sharp and compete. I’m definitely looking for some exercise if I can find it. Skiing or beach volleyball or hitting the gym are my preferred methods of getting exercise. Other than that, a good hike always does me right.

ON TOP OF SPAGHETTI: My wife went to chef school and is an amazing cook. If I’m in charge -- which is rare, thankfully -- I go spaghetti. Even I can’t mess it up and it turns out being pretty delicious. Although it counterbalances the volleyball in terms of productivity. Our new favorite spot is William Cross Wine Merchants. They have an awesome tasting room in the back and the people are super friendly. It’s a fun atmosphere where people bring their dogs to hang out. The staff is ultra-helpful and cool so they create a phenomenal experience. The original Swensen’s Ice Cream is on our block and we hit that probably more than we should. It’s all about the cookie dough in my opinion.

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING
: I’m a huge fan of technology and society authors like CLAY SHIRKY. You should pick up “HERE COMES EVERYBODY” and “COGNITIVE SURPLUS” if you have some time. I’m a huge fan of the Foursquare app. Since we’re in lots of different cities, this helps me discover what’s new around me. It has come a long way since the check-in days. I use Foursquare to find the best stuff around me and so my favorite place is usually new to me and depends on where I am.

TRAVELIN’ MAN: We had a great time on a restaurant crawl over Easter weekend. We then hit Roanoke Inn on Mercer Island near Seattle. It’s an old hunting lodge that has an awesome vibe and solid food and drinks. It was an all-around awesome weekend. Tahoe is amazing for skiing in the winter and some volleyball at Zephyr Cove in the summer. It’s three-and-a half hours from S.F., which is accessible for the weekend. It is a world away with its high altitude and pine trees galore. I think it’s the x-factor in making S.F. a phenomenal place to live.
