My grandma hates to fly; she always crosses herself and clutches the armrests before the plane takes off.
2. Si está lloviendo es importante aferrar al volante con ambas manos para mantener control del coche.
If it's raining it's important to grasp the steering wheel with both hands to maintain control of the car.

Thanks for correcting my sentence. But, what's the difference between "agarrar" and "aferrar" on earth? I looked them up in the online dictionary, but I still can't figure it out.
Can I say "La madre aferró las manos de sus dos hijas para cruzar la calle"?
Or, should I say "La madre agarró las manos de sus dos hijas para cruzar la calle"?
