rheumatology by funding collaborative research between European rheumatology groups
in fields that are in line with the mission, goals and strategies of EULAR.
5. Objective 1
•Research: By 2017, EULAR will be a central platform to facilitate and stimulate innovative basic and clinical research
projects in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
Objective 2
•Education: By 2017, EULAR will be a pre-eminent provider and facilitator of high-quality educational offerings for
physicians, health professionals in rheumatology, and people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

and will have broadened its offerings and reach.

11. EULAR collates a register of the top research centers in European rheumatology
with a three-fold goal: to develop a group of first-class research centers for
active researchers, to enable exchange of fellows' research projects, and to link
with Brussels. Currently, 31 centers have been approved as EULAR Centres of
Excellence. A designation is valid for 5 years (beginning and ending in June),
after which a center can reapply for prolongation.
12. The major aim of a EULAR network of imaging centers is to attract rheumatologists
and/or trainees in rheumatology who will be educated in a particular imaging
technique or in developing research projects.
Interested European centers can apply to become part of the experts network,
provided they are able and willing to offer training and/or develop research
programs in one or several of the following imaging techniques applied in
rheumatology:
conventional radiography
magnetic resonance imaging
computed tomography (CT)
micro-CT
musculoskeletal ultrasound
dual energy CT
position emission tomography (PET)-CT
capillaroscopy
