2. Benefits of Superslim soldiers
• The Super Slim Soldier is the definitive formwork
primary beam, with its unrivalled strength-to-
weight ratio, versatility and range of accessories
• Its ten standard lengths, from 90 to 3,600mm
provide almost unlimited scope for assembling
beams of virtually any length
• Standard fixtures and clamps make it fully
compatible with other RMD Australia product
ranges and in many cases, with the customers'
equipment
• Formwork ties and other components can be fixed
virtually anywhere along the Super Slim Soldier’s
length, providing the freedom to create the
optimum design Alfred's Point Bridge, NSW
Why Use Superslim soldiers ?
3. Benefits of Superslim soldiers
• Superslim soldiers can be used to construct straight,
curved, conical or other complex formwork
configurations
• Superslim soldiers are ideal as primary beams on
shoring to support reinforced concrete slab
constructions
• Because they can be assembled into practically any
length, they are often used for raking and vertical
shoring
• Superslim soldiers can be assembled into:
- Wall formwork panels
- Vertical and raking shores
- Spanning beams and trusses
- Bridge cantilever edge and deck supports
- Travelling gantries

4. Alform beam
profile, with wood
at the top for
nailing plywood.
Benefits of Alform beams
• A 150mm Alform is twice the strength of a
200mm timber beam, it provides longer spans,
supporting greater loads, to be built with less
equipment
• Alform beam has a good range of components
including internal and external corner solutions
that provide a complete and adaptable system
• Alform beams are far lighter and easier to
handle than timber, their unique profiles reduce
damage and their bevelled edges enable plywood
to be stripped quickly
• Alform beams have a high bending capacity and
shear resistance, allowing more weight to be
supported across larger spans with less
equipment, saving time and costs

5. Benefits of using Superslim with Alform
• The largest formwork panels possible can be made
• Minimal shutter joints and larger pours
• No limitations on design pressure
• Faster pour rates
• Infinite flexibility of “tie positions”
• Designed with minimum number of ties, resulting in
labour savings in fixing and making good tie holes
on every pour
• Up to 20% lighter than proprietary panel or timber
formwork

6. Alform beam versus timber
Alform beam versus timber as a secondary
• Alform beams have equivalent strength to twin
9”x3” timbers, ensuring greater soldier centres
• Alform has a unique “lok clamp” for easier and
quicker fixing of stop ends and shutter joints.
Uses standard 15mm tie bar and fittings
• Range of Alform components including internal
and external corner solutions that ensure a
complete system and not just a beam
• Minimum number of components for a “perfect
shutter”
• Minimal build time and minimal labour costs
7. Why Superslim and Alform beam ?
Why use the Superslim soldiers and Alform beam formwork system?
• It is at least 3 times quicker to assemble than a
traditional timber form.
• As mentioned, Alform has the equivalent strength
of twin 9”x3” timbers, this reduces the number of
soldiers required (can be up to 2m centres) and
minimises ties.
• The shutter will be 20% lighter with Alform Beam
walings than timber.
• Superslim and Alform beam can incorporate a
bottom tie close to the kicker to avoid grout loss.
• The customers’ own plywood face material
ensures a finish to the required specification.
