Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has admitted the World Cup next summer is likely to be his last international tournament.
Iniesta scored the winner for Spain in the 2010 World Cup final and helped his country win back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
But after signing a 'contract for life' at the club he has played for his whole career, the midfielder admits he is likely to retire from international commitments after the tournament in Russia.
"I am realistic. There is a great chance this World Cup will be my last event with the national team," Iniesta told Sport on Friday.
"I am aware of the moment, my age and everything it entails, but we will see how things develop.
"There are many months still to go until the World Cup and hopefully everything will go well so that I can be in Russia."
Iniesta made his debut for Spain in May 2006 in a friendly against Russia, going on to win 121 caps.
But despite signing the contract, the midfielder admitted he could call time on his 15-year-long club career at the end of the season.
Iniesta added: "The idea of the contract is to evaluate every season how I can perform or what I can still mean as a player.
"Things can change in a few months, in a year or two things can change.
"Right now, I still feel like a footballer and I don't have a vision of what I want to be in a few years."
