It was immortalized in the voice of Carmen Miranda, and over time, it became one of the best known Brazilian songs in the world. Although it is essentially instrumental, it has lyrics by Eurico Barreiros and Aloísio de Oliveira, as well as an English version by Ervin Drake. Part of the story about the song was told in the 1952 film Tico-tico no Fubá, directed by Adolfo Celi.
