An adenosine derivative formed as a metabolite of adenosine-2′:3′-cyclic monophosphate. It is generated through the hydrolysis of 2′,3′-cAMP by a group of metal-dependent phosphodiesterases. Notably, 2′-AMP exhibits inhibitory effects on the proliferation of preglomerular vascular smooth muscle cells and glomerular mesangial cells. This inhibition occurs via the activation of A2B receptors by both 2′-AMP and 3′-AMP.
