Amol Navathe, MD, PhD, is a thought leader, scholar, and distinguished healthcare executive committed to public service. Dr. Navathe brings years of experience in healthcare technology, professional healthcare services, large-scale government-led projects, clinical care and academia to his board role.

Currently, Dr. Navathe is a faculty member in the Departments of Health Policy and Medicine and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and the Vice Chairman and Commissioner of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), a nonpartisan agency that advises the US Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Medicare policy.

In addition, Dr. Navathe is co-founder of Embedded Healthcare (now Clarify Health), a health care technology company that brings behavioral economics solutions to improving affordability and quality.

Throughout his career, Dr. Navathe has served on several boards. He has served as a Director on the Board of Hawaii Medical Services Association’s Integrated Services Inc. for-profit subsidiary since 2019 and previously served on the Board of Embedded Healthcare. He also served on the Board of the United States Multi-Payer Claims Database Initiative from 2010-2014.

Dr. Navathe is a leading scholar on payment model design and evaluation, applications of behavioral economics to financial and non-financial incentive design, and applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence to health data. His thought leadership led to the founding of a disciplinary academic journal, Health Care: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation, serving as its Co-Editor-in-Chief.

Dr. Navathe completed his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his post-graduate medical training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He obtained his PhD in Health Care Management and Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
