The Bahamas, March 7, 2017 – At a signing ceremony today attended by Perry Christie, Prime Minister of The Bahamas (left) and Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International (right), the cruise line committed to a multi-year agreement with the island nation of The Bahamas that will help grow tourism to the destination, rapidly increase the cruise line’s employment of Bahamian nationals and invest in hospitality training to develop talent in the country. In addition, the line confirmed plans for a significant investment in major enhancements to CocoCay – its private island destination in The Bahamas – which will include the construction of a pier, additional guest features and amenities, and new opportunities for vendors and craftsmen to promote the culture of The Bahamas to visitors.

May 2023 – Royal Caribbean International opens a recruitment office in the historic downtown district in Nassau, The Bahamas. Building on more than 50 years of partnership with the island nation, the office supports the recruitment of Bahamians for employment on the cruise line’s ships and for its initiatives in The Bahamas, such as Perfect Day at CocoCay, the brand’s private island destination.

June 2023 – Royal Caribbean International’s first Royal Beach Club destination experience is moving forward with approval from The Bahamas. Opening in 2025, the 17-acre Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will combine the spirit and striking beaches of The Bahamas with the cruise line’s signature experiences to create the ultimate beach day.
