      Critics Consensus

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle brings impressive special effects to bear on the darker side of its classic source material, but loses track of the story's heart along the way.

B - 1 5 stars for CGI effects. The attention to detail is at such an expert level. The story feels off at times, wasn't entirely connected to the human protagonist. Having said all of that. Not for kids. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Evelin V It was horrendous with the story and the effect i nearly cried when i saw the animals all of them looked like an old man..not worth it. I tried to give a shot to the story but its just made no sense... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Bradley H Not for kids, way better than Disney version. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review Kit actually i am not satisfied with the design of the animals because they are quite scary, there are a few flaws at the end of the movie but i still like this movie quite a bit and if i ignore the above 2 things, the movie is quite unique Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/16/23 Full Review Petter H It's a really good movie alot better than 2016 jungle book. More terrifing better voice acting. I hear alot of people Are complaining about the animations well yes it looks less realistic but Are talking animals realistic??😂 anyways they actually look more human and they definetly look like realistic TALKING animals. underappreciated movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review Gareth v Okay. Could of been so much better. Seems to try too hard to entertain both adults and kids and the results don't quite hit the mark. Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader Unlike Jon Favreau's insipid 2016 live-action retread... this live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic about a feral Indian boy reared by wolves teems with flesh, blood, and mud, conveying a true sense of danger and adventure. Mar 10, 2020 Full Review David Sims The Atlantic The film feels painfully incomplete, from its frequently told story to its weak visuals. Dec 21, 2018 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto The movie is not without its flaws, but its failures are far more fascinating than whatever made Favreau's safely engineered adaptation a success. Rated: 3/5 Dec 12, 2018 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Despite its impressive roster of voice performers and the appealing, weightier treatment of Rudyard Kipling's original characters, Serkis' film is a mass of aesthetic contradictions. Rated: 2/4 Mar 4, 2022 Full Review Nicolás Delgadillo Discussing Film My only hope is that this version of the classic tale doesn't get forgotten - its darkness is heavy but there's beauty within it. Rated: 4 / 5 Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Candice McMillan KOMO News (Seattle) A bloodier alternative to the classic Rudyard Kipling novel for those who like a little grit with their fairy tales.
