John F This was a documentary film, not a drama. It did a wonderful job of explaining the technical and physical challenges of constructing (secretly, but in the open) a specialized ship to attempt the recovery of a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine. The ship was the Hughes Glomar Explorer, built for the CIA to attempt to recover the sub in 17,000 feet of water. The project was an engineering marvel. The movie tells the story of the ship via interviews, photographs, and film clips. It was fascinating to see what your tax dollars were buying. Although a "guys film" my wife found watched the film in suspense. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review jean h This is the best documentary I've seen in quite some time. It's all new news, this was very hush hush stuff until very recently. But now that we're able to talk about it, LOOK! Can you believe the genius level on this ship? On this planet? In our country? The swiftness with which they boldly went out and designed their rig is just stunning. There was ONE flaw, just one, in all that they did and made, and you can watch the movie yourself to see what that was. I'm not going to give it away. This had me on the edge of my seat. This is an engineer's movie, a real history of real people conquering real problems in our own time. Talk about truth being stranger than fiction, this is a prime example of that.
