Arculator - not running roms

I'm trying to get the Acorn Archimedes up and running. I'm using Arculator as the emulator. I can get the "roms" running if I run the emulator stand-alone.

Also, after a couple false starts, I can get it to where the rom/image is showing up in disc_name_0. I.e. I see that arc.cfg has been modified and also if I'm running in "GUI" mode I can click on disk 0 and see the game. I double click on the game and it runs.

So what I'm wondering is if the module is supposed to run the game or just get everything lined up to run the game. I've dug around in the arculator.ahk file and I'm guessing the "ExecuteCmd" variable is used to run the game, but I'm not confident it's getting built properly - I'm assuming I have something setup wrong somewhere. But before I go too far trying to figure it out I want to make sure I'm not making too big of an assumption that this is meant to start the games.

Brolly thanks! Great work on all this by the way!

I see that you're the original author of the module so I was wondering is this worth me trying to get running by mucking with the ahk file? Or is this something you found was just not solvable because of how the emulator works? I'm willing to bang my head against the wall a bit on this, but I'll move on to my next one if it is a dead end.

What do you mean? The module already has everything you need to start the games there's no need to make any changes to the ahk file, you'll have to set the commands to execute yourself because that's just how the system works. This isn't a console it's a PC system so the normal way of operation is to open the file explorer on the archie desktop and run the game. The module makes it possible to auto start the games by using CLI, but you do need to set the executeCmd setting for each game because this will obviously vary from one game to another and there is no way for RL to figure this out automaticallly.

marc451, what Brolly is saying (I think) is that you can get the games to auto run (I have it setup this way), but first you need to edit the Arculator.ini with all the execute commands for each game like this:

No, it would go in the RocketLauncher/Modules/Arculator/Arculator.ini file. These files are often included with "(Example)" appended to the end of the file name so all you need to do is rename it and delete that example text in order for it to work. I'm not sure if this specific file is included or not though.

no that directory only has the ahk file & an isd file thanks for the reply so how can i source the missing file or how can i create it ?

Open any text editor, copy the info from the above post and save it as the file I mentioned.

Hello, also having trouble with Archimedes emulation. It works perfectly outside of RL but when I launch a game in RL after loading extraction etc my Arculator window is grey and changes from full screen to a smaller window and does not load the game. I have used the .ini file above and put it in the directory listed but can't figure out the issue.

Wasn't sure if posting my log would help bu it doesn't show any errors.

Followed all instructions, searched on internet, struggling for hours but I can't get past this screen:
I'll have to manually select the config file and click on the Load button to start the OS. Can this be automated somehow?

After that it looks like the .ahk file is executing the command to start the game but then it says the drive is empty?

Of course I can add the .adf file to drive 0, click on drive 0 and start the game myself, but I think it's meant to go easier...

Hopefully someone have this one working and is willing to help me with this.

There has likely been some changes from .99 to 2.0. The module will likely need to be adapted to the new version in order to function correctly.

I need to learn to read which emu version the module was intended for.
Installed 0.99 and the roms are loading and starting now.

Can we have bezels with this one? I can't manage to achieve this.
Only a small "full screen" centered with bezels, so for now I'll go back to FULL full screen (only the menu bar is visible then).

Hello ! I followed the instructions, but the game is not launching. Arculator try to launch the game with command line, but I got this message :
File '{Aggressor' not found
The game loaded correctly in drive 0.

Edit 1 : I supposed the problem is due to my QWERTZ keyboard. The command line use "{" instead of "!".

Edit 2 : So I replaced "{!}" by "{+}" in Arculator.ini and it's working now !
