Kenny Golladay named a top-10 WR in NFL

Do you agree? Does that mean he’ll get a top-10 contract?

This could a big offseason for Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 11 receiving touchdowns, he’s entering 2020 on the final year of his contract. With the way general manager Bob Quinn has run the team, it seems likely the 2017 third-round pick could be looking at a rich extension in the upcoming months.

But Golladay is not only being recognized locally, he’s on his way to becoming a household name. Certainly, fantasy football players already know his name, but Pro Football Network just named him a top-10 wide receiver in the league.

Author Brad Kelly listed the top 25 receivers in the league right now, and Golladay finished 10th on his list.

“Not only did Kenny Golladay lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns last season, but he was also fifth among WRs in yards per target (10.3),” Kelly wrote. “His strength to win while contested and after the catch makes him a chore to cover and tackle.”

Statistically, it’s hard to argue the fact that Golladay has become a top-10 receiver in today’s NFL. Golladay was sixth among wide receivers in yards (1,190) last season, third in yards per catch (18.3), and first in touchdowns (11).

And Golladay isn’t just enjoying the success of one season. Golladay is one of just 13 receivers coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, and in the past two years he ranks ninth in yards (2,253), tied for seventh in touchdowns (16) and is ninth in yards per catch (16.7).

But does that mean Golladay should be pulling in top-10 money? At just 26 years old, he still has plenty of good years ahead of him, so paying upwards of $16-20 million a year would make some sense in the grand scheme of things.

But that will be up for the Lions and Quinn to decide in the few months.
