APM Terminals expands API offering to improve customer connectivity

APM Terminals (APMT) has rolled out a new Application Programming Interface (API) which enables customers to track the schedules and key milestones for all vessels calling at a specific terminal.

In addition, three additional terminals offer real-time API data access.

For many years, APMT has provided a vessel schedule API, although this was better suited to its clients wishing to follow a single vessel visiting a terminal.

According to APMT, customers can now follow all vessels calling at a port for up to one week in the past and two weeks ahead thanks to the new port vessel schedule.

The terminal vessels schedule reportedly provides customers with real-time and reliable terminal estimated time of arrival/departure, earliest receiving date, cut-off times for different cargo types, and vessel details.

APMT’s range of seven APIs enables to pull real-time container status, truck appointment and vessel data from its Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), into their own internal systems, such as a logistics or Transport Management System (TMS).

The interfaces are developed in accordance with industry standards and provide self-service, straightforward, one-time-only deployment.

According to APMT, the new terminal vessel schedule fee structure is advantageous for larger clients tracking a large number of boats since, unlike the old vessel schedule API, the cost is for unlimited calls for a period of 30 days for a certain terminal, rather than per vessel contacted via the API.

In September 2022, APMT Elizabeth became the first terminal in the Ports of New York and New Jersey to introduce a truck appointment API.
