50th Annual Ball raises more than $1.2 million for patient care

What: A record crowd of more than 1,100 Hospital supporters celebrated 50 Years of Caring at the 50th Annual Boca Raton Regional Hospital Ball ~ A Golden Gala on Jan. 21. Attendees commemorated the life and legacy of Eminent Honoree Gloria Drummond, the founder and First Lady of Boca Raton, and paid tribute to Ball Honorees:
• Dick Schmidt, chairman of the Hospital Board and a life-long, second generation supporter of the Hospital
• The Debbie-Rand Memorial Service League, the first to rally by Gloria’s side all those years ago, who continue to sustain and support the Hospital in ways too numerous to count
• Ten outstanding physicians, selected by their peers as embodying the best in quality, compassionate care:

The historic milestone was an evening to remember, as attendees enjoyed elegant cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, feasted on a sumptuous dinner, enjoyed a performance by famed opera tenor Stefano Algieri, and danced to South Florida Heatwave.
With the leadership of Honorary Chairs Orrine and Warren Orlando and Patricia Thomas, the Ball raised $1.2 million for the Patient Care Fund, which supports the programs, services and technology that improve patient care and the patient experience at our hospital. In celebration of every person who has made Boca Raton Regional Hospital what it is today, Dick and Barbara Schmidt and the Schmidt Family Foundation very graciously underwrote the entire cost of the Ball, so that every dollar raised benefits patient care at the Hospital.
