Arsenal new boy Jurrien Timber will miss the majority of the 2023-24 after picking up a serious ACL injury.

The talented defender signed from Ajax for £40m this summer sustained a torn ACL in the Gunners' opening Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

Boss Mikel Arteta handed the 22-year-old his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the season following his arrival from the Eredivise.

However, the versatile defender was substituted early in the second half at the Emirates with a knee issue.

Timber has since been undergoing various tests and scans as the club's medical staff attempted assess the extent of the damage.

The Gooner Fanzine understands there are serious concerns Timber has suffered a torn ACL that will keep him sidelined for many months rather than a few weeks.

The sad news is a big blow to Arteta, who has been impressed by Timber on and off the pitch since arriving in the county.
