Al Horford will rest Tuesday as the Thunder hosts the Magic on the second night of a back-to-back.

The 34-year-old center has averaged 7.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his first two games with the Thunder.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said it remains to be seen if Horford will regularly rest on the second night of a back-to-back much like Danilo Gallinari did last year with the Thunder.

"This is a highly collaborative process with Al, and so it's certainly not us dictating him in any way," Daigneault said. "This is us having a conversation with him."

Horford was a late arrival to an already shortened training camp due to the processing of the trade between Oklahoma City and Philadelphia.

"It's a unique year, and it's a pretty tight schedule," Daigneault said. "He could play tonight obviously, but this is more of an investment in the sustainability of the season for him than it is anything else."

Daigneault didn't say who would start in Horford's place, but Mike Muscala is the most likely option.

Thunder guards George Hill (neck spasms) and Ty Jerome (left ankle sprain) are also out Tuesday night.

Hill is averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Jerome has yet to make his Thunder debut.

The Thunder (1-1) and Magic (3-0) will tip-off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
