Disneyland will begin the day with standby queue access for Rise of the Resistance and the park could potentially activate the virtual queue on certain days and times.

The twice-a-day distribution of virtual queue boarding group return times for the Rise of the Resistance attraction at 7 a.m. and noon each day through the Disneyland mobile app will be paused during the test.

Disneyland visitors are encouraged to check the Disneyland mobile app prior to 7 a.m. before arriving at the park and throughout the day to see if Rise of the Resistance is using a standby or virtual queue.

During the test, the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue could be activated on select days and times. If activated, visitors will need to be inside Disneyland to access the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. Previously, the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue could be accessed anywhere — at Disneyland, DCA, Downtown Disney or from home or a hotel.

Disneyland used a similar standby/virtual queue hybrid with the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction after the park first reopened following a 412-day coronavirus closure.

The Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure attraction in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure began testing a standby queue on Nov. 4 with the option to reinstitute the virtual queue whenever necessary.

Rise of the Resistance debuted at Disneyland in January 2020 with a virtual queue that filled up quickly each day — typically in minutes and often in seconds. Since reopening, Disneyland distributes virtual queue boarding group return times for Rise of the Resistance at 7 a.m. and noon each day.

Rise of the Resistance enlists recruits to join a battle between the heroic Resistance and the villainous First Order. Along the way, the recruits will be captured aboard a Star Destroyer, break out of a First Order detention cell, elude the clutches of Kylo Ren and escape back to a secret base on the Star Wars planet of Batuu, the setting for the new Galaxy’s Edge lands at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rise of the Resistance will be among the pay-to-ride individual Lightning Lane attractions that will be available through Disney Genie+ when the new service launches later this fall as part of the Disneyland mobile app. Prices are expected to run between $7 and $15 per ride. Virtual and standby queues will still be available for attractions offering the individual Lightning Lane option to jump to the front of the line.

Other attractions offering the individual Lightning Lane option include Web Slingers and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure.
