The Angels added an experienced bullpen arm Friday morning by agreeing to terms with right-hander Al Alburquerque on a one-year, $1.1 million contract. The deal is pending a physical.

Alburquerque, 29, has a career 3.20 ERA in five seasons with the Detroit Tigers, who non-tendered him earlier this winter. The Angels will have Alburquerque under control for two seasons.

Alburquerque figures to go into the bullpen setup mix primarily with Fernando Salas and Mike Morin, who will all be jockeying to fill the seventh-inning role that opened when Trevor Gott was dealt to the Washington Nationals.

Last season Alburquerque had a 4.21 ERA in 62 innings. He struck out 58 batters but walked 33. Alburquerque has struck out 11 batters and walked five per nine innings in his career, both exceptionally high figures.
