A-ha announce they are to split up

Morten Harket an co call it a day after 25 years together

A-Ha have announced they are to split next year, after completing a farewell world tour.

The Norwegian trio released a statement on A-ha.com saying that, after 25 years together, they have decided to concentrate on other projects.

“We’ve literally lived the ultimate boy’s adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for,” the band said in the statement.

“Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else – and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music.

“We are retiring as a band, not as individuals,” the statement continued. “Change is always difficult and it is easy to get set in one’s ways. Now it is time to move on.”

A-Ha will play their final show together in Oslo on December 4. Tickets for the gig go on sale tomorrow morning (October 16) at 10am (CET). See Billettservice.no for more information.

The band’s most recent album, ‘Foot of The Mountain’, was released in June and reached Number Five on the UK album chart.
