Figure 23 is a forest plot showing the prevalence of any ADL disability from good quality studies. Any ADL disability was defined as having one or more ADL limitation. The left column groups the study names by the number of ADL items included in the disability survey. The right column reports the prevalence and 95% confidence interval for each study. The prevelance of any ADL disability for surveys with five items ranged from 5 to 25.6%. The prevalence for surveys with four items was 5.8%. The prevalance for surveys with three items ranged from 5.4 to 9.1%. The prevalence for seven item surveys ranged from 11 to 12%. The prevalence for six item surveys ranged from 13.9 to 18%. Two studies did not report the number of items in their survey and their prevalence ranged from 11.9 to 12.2%. In general the forest plots shows that the prevalence of any ADL disability increases as the number of items in the survey increases.
