Sandra Chicoine of Jefferson, South Dakota died Thursday, September 22, 2017 at the age of 69 at her home surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at the St. Peters Catholic Church in Jefferson, South Dakota, with Father Joe Vogel as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery adjacent to the church. Visitation, with the family present, will be today, Sunday, September 24th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church with a Vigil Service beginning this evening at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peters Church or Hospice of Siouxland. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting the family.
Sandra was born on August 16th, 1948 in Ponca, NE to Duwane and Joye (Nielsen) Heaton. She graduated from Jefferson High School. She married Gary Chicoine on January 31st 1970 and they had three children. They lived on a farm in Jefferson SD. She worked at Elk Point School for many years and was most recently a nanny for her daughter and family in Omaha, NE. She was a faithful member of St. Peters Church in Jefferson.
Sandra is survived by her son Kenny (Rose) Chicoine of Jefferson SD, daughter Christine (Mike) Nelson of Omaha NE, daughter in law Jessica (Scott) Honomichl of Jefferson SD. Grandchildren Wyatt Chicoine, Austin Chicoine (Mackenzie Klinkhammer), Brianna Chicoine, Skylar (Jamie) Petrick, Garret Chicoine, Callie Chicoine, RJ Chicoine, Jackson Nelson, Katlyn Nelson and Louis Nelson. Great Grandson Rory Chicoine. Siblings: Nancy (Mike) Kleber of Fullerton CA, Richard (Connie) Heaton of West Point NE, Brenda (Don) McKinney of Ponca NE, Dan (Dawn) Heaton of Jefferson SD, Kim (Ted) Schneiders of Sioux City IA. Sister-in-law Judy (Dave) Oberg of Jefferson SD, brother-in-law John (Paula) Chicoine of Parker SD. And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Gary, son Ruben, parents, and in laws Calvin and Leora Chicoine.
