Peter Hujar and David Wojnarowicz at the LOEWE Gran Via Gallery

The LOEWE FOUNDATION was proud to host an exhibition of works by two important American artists: Peter Hujar (1934-1987) and David Wojnarowicz (1954-1992).

Over 60 original prints gathered for the first time in Madrid on loan from private collections and the Hujar archive in New York, showcasing the enduring brilliance and relevance of the two artists´ creative contribution to culture in a series of images that lay bare the full range of human existence.

The selection also captured a special time and place – a pair of decades in which Manhattan incubated waves of social change that still reverberate far beyond New York. The exhibition was a celebration of both the titular artists and the world their art vividly represents.
