"The EU will not reach climate neutrality without CCU." CO2 Value Europe today published a critical report on the role of carbon capture and utilisation in the EU, to reach net zero. In particular, the report shows how CCU technology in the chemicals sector will contribute to a significant reduction in emissions within the EU. At Econic, our technology is enabling that transition, transforming CO₂ into high-performance materials that shape a better future for all. https://lnkd.in/dydgXvv8

KeyPlants’ science-based targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative We are excited to share that KeyPlants’ science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions have been validated by the independent Science Based Targets initiative (https://lnkd.in/fxUDH6f), meaning the targets are in line with the latest climate science and efforts to limit global temperature increase to 1.5°C. SBTi, which enables climate action in the private sector through independent assessment and validation of science-based emission reduction targets, is a partnership between CDP, the UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. KeyPlants’ SBTI-validated targets include: - A 42% reduction of direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (2021 base year). - A commitment to measure and reduce upstream and downstream (Scope 3) emissions along the entire value chain. KeyPlants intends to achieve nearly net-zero emissions and implement a circular business model by 2045. These efforts will also contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), says Christian Krona KeyPlants Head of Procurement and Sustainability.
