Our 20th anniversary is approaching and in these two decades of #CTIC almost 600 professionals have been or are part of our team. Some of these people have chosen our centre for an international stay, as it is the case of the Austrian Philipp Mascherbauer, who has just arrived at CTIC from Technische Universität Wien to spend four months working with our team in #Gijón. Today, I began my day revisiting 'The Barcelona Letter', a manifesto I had the honor of contributing to. This letter from Barcelona advocates for Europe to lead in communication and ICT, grounded on ethical and democratic values. It's a call fostered by Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona's Chair in Futures of Communication, alongside over fifteen sector media, companies, and organizations including Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and not least Sofie Hvitved, who has been deeply involved in the project. In our rapid world, this manifesto is a powerful reminder of the timeless impact of written declarations. Despite seeming antiquated, manifestos have the unique capacity to anchor us in a moment, sparking essential debates and rallying communities around shared visions. The Barcelona Letter emphasizes the need for ethical and democratic foundations in shaping our communication future. At a time when AI is reshaping democratic dialogue worldwide, such manifestos are not outdated relics but vital beacons guiding us towards a future where communication is fair, truthful, and democratic. I invite you to take a moment to explore The Barcelona Letter. It’s a testament to the enduring relevance of manifestos in initiating meaningful conversations and setting the course for a principled future in communication, innovation and technology. Closing the year with a new paper published in the Journal of Public Transportation. The paper investigates the factors influencing university students’ acceptance of MaaS. The preferences are categorized into two groups based on travel captivity and the usage of shared mobility services. It aims to complete a background study on MaaS, which offers a vision of how future MaaS studies could be designed and conducted. Enjoy the reading and happy holidays! PS: This is the third journal paper published during my PhD :) Couldn't be more thankful for the tremendous support of my supervisor Dr Domokos Esztergár-Kiss https://lnkd.in/d3MtC5hU
