Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day, face to face, with my team for a day of reflection on our 2023 achievements and focusing on our 2024 priorities.
Starting with a tour of Ironmonger Row Baths and the fantastic new Old Street Spa with Arkin Mert and moving on to Finsbury Leisure Centre hosted by Katie Doyle
A huge congratulations to Jennie Maccready for her well deserved Better People Award for the National Aquatics Team.
Jennie’s enthusiasm for galvanising her team to make sure the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Winter Water Safety message reached thousands of primary school pupils across her region was incredible. The passion she demonstrates for providing opportunities for children to learn to swim and making lessons fun and engaging is reflected in themed lessons and motivated teachers in her pools. Finally, the positive way that Jennie manages and communicates with her team was reflected in their willingness to share positive feedback and genuine excitement that she had been given the award. Jennie has built a friendly and nurturing environment for her team where the phrase ‘there’s no such thing as a silly question’ is a mantra they all sign uo to.
Jennie is also a great GLL success story, having worked her way through the Aquatics Career Pathway working in local leisure centres across to Swindon to join the National Team as an Aquatics Hub Manager.
Following on from the award and every team member sharing their key achievements and what they were most proud of in 2023, it was time to focus on the year in hand.
Full team discussion and individual feedback around themes such as Purpose, Quality, Collaboration, Innovation, Consistency made for a really interesting afternoon.
Thank you to Andrew Clark and Ibrahim Mehmet for helping to lead and organise the day. Huge thanks to Beeba Heskins Jennie Maccready Jess Hammond Kelly Van Rose Matthew Breckon Michelle Meadows Nicola Charnock Terri-Marie Rose for taking the time to join us.
GLL National Aquatics Team is making the most of every opportunity in 2024 💚
