Did you know that sea urchins have decimated nearly 90% of kelp forests on the west coast of the United States? It’s a critical issue, because kelp forests are incredible at sequestering carbon and thus combating climate change. Complete restoration would be such a large and expensive undertaking, I understand people’s feelings of hopelessness. But there’s a way forward for restoration, and it hinges on restorative, profitable, aquaculture enterprises. And I gave a whole TEDx Talk about it.
