Finding Success with Faith: A Look at Today's Khutbah The air crackled with anticipation as I settled into the mosque for Friday prayers. Today's sermon, the Khutbah Jumaat, promised to be different. The Imam's opening words resonated deeply: "BEKERJA KERANA ALLAH." His message, inspired by the Quran, unfolded like a beautiful tapestry. He spoke of the importance of working with pure intentions, for the sake of Allah. Every task, from the doctor healing the sick to the farmer nurturing the land, becomes an act of devotion when done with sincerity. But purpose wasn't all. The Imam emphasized the importance of halal work. Just as we wouldn't consume anything impure, our labor too, should be righteous. We should avoid professions that exploit others or contribute to harm. The Imam's voice rose, quoting a verse from the Quran: "And He has put you as successors on the earth and has provided you with [sustenance] therein from the best. So fear Allah as much as you are able." (Quran 6:165) The message was clear: success wasn't just about financial gain, but about leaving a positive impact. Our work should benefit not only ourselves but also the community around us. As I left the mosque, a sense of renewed purpose filled my steps. My writing career, once a source of frustration, now felt like a sacred trust. I would use my words to uplift, inspire, and create a better world. The Imam's sermon that day wasn't just a speech; it was a call to action.
